(UTV | COLOMBO) – 19 COVID deaths & 714 cases detected in Sri Lanka yesterday
The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country has risen to 572,902 following the detection of 714 patients yesterday. 710 cases were linked to the New Year COVID-19 cluster while four persons who arrived in the country recently from overseas also tested positive for the virus yesterday. The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 13,237 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.
Yesterday, 425 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 545,051. 1,935 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present. Meanwhile, yesterday, another 19 coronavirus related fatalities were confirmed in Sri Lanka, raising the death toll to 14,614.
