UTV | COLOMBO – Leader of the United National Party former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says a strong programme required to face the coronavirus will be implemented under a UNP led government.
Speaking at a rally in Harispattuwa the former Premier said conducing 5,000 PCR tests daily and providing all schools and higher education institutions face masks are among the UNPs plans.
He noted a UNP led government will provide 10 million face masks to schools and higher education institutions free of charge, alongside setting up 2,000 ventilators.
The UNP leader further pledged to manufacture PPE kits in Sri Lanka to make it more available and increase beds in ICUs.
He remarked that attention must not only be focused on coronavirus, as dengue could arise thereafter.
The former Premier noted that in countries like China, SARS has re-emerged, however he stressed his faction is ready to face any epidemic.
