(UTV | COLOMBO) – Twenty-three among the novel coronavirus detected yesterday (16) were identified among Sri Lanka personnel, stated Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.
In total, 25 new cases of COVID-19 infections were identified yesterday.
Breaking down the detections, the Army Commander stated that 23 of the identified cases are naval personnel.
The other two patients have been identified from quarantine centers.
One of these patients was reported from the Miyankulama quarantine center while the other was from the Kandakadu quarantine center. The latter has returned from Chennai, India recently.
Meanwhile, 431 active cases are under medical observation at selected hospitals across the country.
The count of coronavirus recoveries reported in Sri Lanka is 520 cases.
Among them, 43 recoveries were reported yesterday, stated Epidemiology Unit. They had been discharged from the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Angoda, Mulleriya Hospital, Homagama Hospital, and the Navy Hospital in Welisara.
The country has recorded nine fatalities from the virus.
