Former Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya further remanded

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States, Jaliya Wickramasuriya was arrested and remanded on charges of misusing state funds has been further remanded till the 27th of January.

The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.

Charges have been leveled against the former Ambassador over alleged financial discrepancies amounting to $ 300,000 reported when purchasing a new building for the Sri Lankan Embassy during his tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance led (UPFA) government.
