(UTV|COLOMBO) – Dates have been determined to announce the verdict on the revision petition filed by the Attorney General against bail being granted to former Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne over the controversial ‘white van media briefing’.
Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne said the verdict will be announced on the 16th of March.
The Attorney General’s faction and attorneys representing Former MP Senaratne concluded their statements yesterday.
The Attorney General cites that the decision by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to grant bail is contradictory to the provisions of the Bail Act.
The Attorney General therefore calls for the order issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to be overturned.
Having considered the evidence Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne announced that the decision on the revision application will be announced on the 16th of March.
Former MP Senaratne was granted bail on the 30th of December.
