(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian (MP) Hirunika Premachandra claims former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa is the first person to contest for Presidency in Sri Lanka without a National Identity Card (NIC).
Speaking at a United National Party electorate meeting in Bentara-Elpitiya MP Premachandra said Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s wife and children are also unable to vote for him as they hold US citizenship.
While commenting on a statement made by Gotabaya Rajapaksa claiming he was the most innocent member of his family, MP Premachandra said Hitler was also innocent when he was small.
She noted while she wasn’t afraid of Gotabaya Rajapaksa before, she is afraid now because she has two children.
MP Premachandra added the public should have the same fear that she has, for their children.
The Parliamentarian stressed while MP Wimal Weerawansa scolds the US regularly, the SLPP, which he is a part of, fielded Gotabaya Rajapaksa who holds US citizenship as the party’s Presidential candidate.
