Separate lane for buses – Min. Ranawaka

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Western Development and Megapolis, Patali Champika Ranawaka, informed that the Government is intending to pilot a priority lane for buses.

However the Minister added that the project will only be successful is the quality of the bus service too can be improved parallel to the introduction of a priority lane.

Accordingly, Ranawaka said that his Ministry is studying the possibility of implementing cashless ticketing systems, streamlined bus schedules and data-driven bus operations.

The pilot project for the priority bus lane will be first implemented on the 17th March, on Parliament Road and Old Kotte Road.
