20th IORA Leaders’ Summit commences today

(UDHAYAM, JAKARTA) – The 20th Indian Ocean Rim Association Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to commence today (07th Tuesday).

The summit will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Indonesia, as the current Chair of the IORA, will host the first ever IORA Leaders’ Summit under the theme “Strengthening Maritime Cooperation for a Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous Indian Ocean”.

The Summit will bring together the Leaders of the 21 IORA Member States and its 7 Dialogue Partners as well as other special invitees and guests.

President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Summit and will deliver a special speech at 11am Sri Lanka time.

During the President’s visit, Sri Lanka will sign two agreements on cooperation in the fields of fisheries and small and medium enterprises.

President Sirisena is accompanied by State Minister V. Radhakrishnan and State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe.
