(UTV | COLOMBO) – Stern action is to be taken against those updating fake news on social media platforms, the Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera said.
Speaking to the media after attending an event held in Mulleriyawa recently, the Minister said instances of fake news on social media would be investigated.
He added that the freedom of expression guaranteed in the Constitution must not be abused, Weerasekara said the Government would monitor fake news on social media platforms.
