SLTB buses unfit for operations to be removed

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board Kingsley Ranawaka says all buses of the SLTB will be inspected with the assistance of the Motor Traffic Department after which, buses unfit for operations will be removed from service.

Speaking to media, from the 6th Milepost of the Passara-Madolsima Road, where a fatal accident involving a SLTB bus was reported, the Chairman said new buses will be imported in order to replace buses that will be removed with the assistance of the Minister of Passenger Transport Management.

He said the bus that was involved in the accident was in good condition.

Kingsley Ranawaka added the driver of the bus has been in service along the same route for the past 10 years.

A special investigation has been launched into the accident.
