(UTV|COLOMBO) – Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Parliamentarian Rauff Hakeem says the public will respond to the government’s suppression of members of the Opposition.
Speaking to media in Kandy on the arrest of MP Ranjan Ramanayake, the Parliamentarian said the SLMC condemns the arrest of an individual who stood against the actions of the government but against his own party as well.
MP Hakeem added the SLMC was of the stance that Parliamentarian Ramanayake must be released following an explanation of the incident.
The MP charged that although the government claimed no political interference will take place, the political vengeance against Opposition MPs is today becoming a trend.
