SL fighting COVID-19 effectively under Gotabaya’s leadership: Modi

(UTV | COLOMBO)- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who spoke with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today, has said Sri Lanka is fighting COVID-19 effectively under President Rajapaksa’s leadership. According to Hindustan Times, Premier Modi spoke with President Rajapaksa and Mauritius Prime Minister P.K. Jugnauth, continuing to engage with neighbouring countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Had an excellent talk with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Sri Lanka is fighting COVID-19 effectively under his leadership. India will continue to support our close maritime neighbour in dealing with the pandemic and its economic impact,” the Prime Minister tweeted. “We agreed to accelerate Indian-assisted development projects in Sri Lanka, and also strengthen investment links,” he said.

Mr. Modi meanwhile thanked Mauritian Premier Jugnauth and promised to help Mauritius.
