Six returnees among new COVID-19 cases

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Health says persons who arrived recently from Bangladesh, Belarus and Indonesia have tested positive for COVID-19, yesterday.

10 persons were confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus in the country yesterday.

Accordingly, four persons who arrived from Bangladesh, a returnee each from Belarus and Indonesia tested positive for COVID-19.

Two persons who maintained close contact with the Army personnel who tested positive for COVID-19 recently and two other Navy personnel were also among the new confirmed cases.

Accordingly, the total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country has risen to 1,643.

821 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at nine hospitals.

811 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus have also recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 65 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

11 deaths in the country have also been linked to COVID-19.
