Sinopharm not cleared for use on Lankans yet

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sinopharm COVID-vaccines from China has not yet been cleared for use on Sri Lankans, as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) have not approved the use of the Vaccine.

Accordingly, the Vaccines will initially be administered only on Chinese nationals based in Sri Lanka.

A stock of 600,000 Sinopharm COVID-vaccines was handed over to Beijing Capital Airport Sunday evening (28) to be sent to Sri Lanka.

The stocks will arrive in Colombo tomorrow morning (31) via the SriLankan Airlines, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said.
