Several health unions set to strike on Thursday

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Trade unions representing health professionals have decided to launch a 24-hour token strike in hospitals island-wide on the 9th of November.

A letter sent to the Secretary to the Ministry of Health by the Joint Council for Professions of Supplementary Medicine said they are staging the union action based on six demands.

The union said health authorities have thus far failed to hold a proper discussion despite being informed of their demands on several occasions.

The union also warned that if the health authorities do not respond positively to the token strike, it will intensify its action.
