Second reading of 2019 Budget passed [UPDATE]

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Second Reading of 2019 Budget was passed with a majority of 43 votes at Parliament.

Accordingly, 119 Parliamentarians voted in favour of the budget while 76 Parliamentarians voted against it.

The United National Front (UNF), Tamil National Alliance (TNA), and the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) voted in favour of the Budget while the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Joint Opposition, and a fraction of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) voted against the Budget.

Meanwhile, a fraction of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Parliamentarians abstained from voting.
