“Skyfall” and “1917” helmer Sam Mendes has begun shooting on the Searchlight Pictures feature “Empire of Light” on the south coast of England.
Lensed by cinematographer Roger Deakins, this is a love story set in and around a beautiful old cinema in the 1980s and filming will unfold in Margate and along the Kent coastline through May.
Olivia Colman, Micheal Ward, Colin Firth, Toby Jones, Crystal Clarke, Tom Brooke, Hannah Onslow and Tanya Moodie star in the film penned by Mendes who produces with Pippa Harris.
