Repatriation of Lankans to be suspended

UTV | COLOMBO – Minister of Tourism and Aviation Prasanna Ranatunga says the repatriation of Lankans overseas will be temporarily suspended from Tuesday.

Speaking to media in Biyagama the Minister said the decision was reached owing to the lack of quarantine accommodation facilities in the country.

Minister Ranatunga said however once the coronavirus situation in the country is brought under control, repatriation efforts will commence once again.

The Minister further noted the government hopes to delay the reopening of airports, to ensure the safety of the country’s citizens, following talks with health officials.
