Private bus owners laud decision to ban loud horns

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association has commended the decision to sternly enforce laws against the use of loud horns in buses.

Chairman of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said the Motor Traffic Act stipulates that laws are in place for vehicles that use horns above the permitted decibel range.

Wijeratne said the responsibility of enforcing this regulation is vested with the Police who he said, is in possession of equipment to capture the decibels of vehicle horns.

He urged authorities to take action to ensure sound pollution is addressed.
