Over 5,000 warned for not wearing face masks in public places

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Over 5,000 people who were not wearing face masks in public places in Western Province have been observed and warned by the police.

Police said public awareness campaign was held at 110 police divisions in the Western Province today to aware the people to comply with quarantine laws.

The campaign was held using loudspeakers in public areas on the instructions of Senior DIG of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon,

Police said a total of 5,620 people who did not wear face masks were observed and they have been warned.

Earlier, wearing of face masks in public places made mandatory by the police due to coronavirus pandemic.
