(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Police Special Task Force has seized over 17,000 kgs of dust tea deemed unfit for human consumption from a warehouse in Wennawatta, Wellampitiya.
Investigations revealed 12,300 kgs had been imported from India and were scheduled for re-importation.
Samples of the tea were investigated by officials of the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
The Police Special Task Force said the tea had subsequently been sealed.
Accordingly, the manager of the tea warehouse has been released from custody after being issued orders to appear before Court.
