(UTV | COLOMBO) – More than 1,000 children in the country have been infected with COVID-19 and five of them have died, said Consultant Pediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera.
Dr. Perera said it was very important to give COVID immunization to children over 12 years of age. Several countries have already started immunizing 12-15 year old children against COVID. The doctor added that immunization was more important to save children from the risk of developing COVID, which could spread rapidly among children in the future. He also pointed out that with the spread of the third COVID-19 wave, a large number of children can get infected which could be a massive burden on the health sector.
