Operations of NGOs will be probed -PM

UTV | COLOMBO – Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa claims that under a future government led by him, a special investigation will be conducted on all non-governmental organisations functioning in the country.

The Prime Minister is of the view that the government must be aware of how such bodies receive funds.

Speaking during a public gathering in Hambantota, Prime Minister Rajapaksa said in the recent past, certain NGOs have be propagating sentiments against the government, in order to obtain funds from international donors.

On a separate note, the Premier claimed that through the Police Financial Investigation Division, the previous administration targeted its political opponents.
