Meradia Market in Dhaka, a popular market for 200-years

(UTV | BANGLADESH) – Meradia Market in Dhaka has a history that stretches back to at least 200 years, when it was launched under a huge banyan tree, before growing and becoming increasingly popular and full with customers day after day.

Although the tree around which the market was created is no longer stands, the market now encompasses a big area of a field around a lake near the tree.

The Narai river (Rampura canal) now runs next to the market, which once used to be the only way to come to this place.
