(UTV | COLOMBO) – Film maker James Gunn has confirmed he has officially finished the first draft of the script for the “Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” in the works for the Disney+ service.
Gunn says he wrote the treatment for the television special years ago, but this first draft of the actual script is dated April 22nd 2021.
Asked about a potential release date, Gunn says they are aiming for a release during the Christmas 2022 holiday with events in the special taking place after “Thor: Love and Thunder” but before “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”.
The full third film is slated for release sometime in 2023 and hopes to begin filming before the year’s out. Check out Disney Imagineering’s bipedal animatronic Groot creation which is still a work in progress.
