Legal action against ‘Foreigners Only’ hotels

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils has decided to take legal action against hotels, restaurants, tourist lodges, and villas that cater only to foreigners.

The Tourist Police with the assistance of the Local Government bodies, the Tourism Development Authority and the Tourist Board will conduct raids in this regard.

Accordingly tourist hotels in Weligama will be inspected today (03) as the first step. Tourist hotels in Hikkaduwa and Mirissa are scheduled to be inspected tomorrow (04) while hotels in Habaraduwa will be inspected the day after (05).
