High possibility of lifting curfew – Army Commander

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva yesterday (05) said there is a high possibility of lifting the quarantine curfew currently in place in the Western Province on Monday (09).

Silva who also holds the positions of Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had imposed a 10-day curfew to prevent the spread of the Virus in the most populous Western Province.

He said the aim was to open the country as soon as possible and that all necessary steps had been taken to prevent the spread of the Virus.

He pointed out that the measures taken so far would enable the Western Province to be reopened.
