Fifteen health unions to hold token strike today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Fifteen health trade unions, including those attached to nursing, supplementary and interim services, will once again engage in a token strike today and tomorrow.

The token strike is being held owing to the failure by the Ministry of Health and government officials to address their grievances through the means of discussion despite the conduct of a token strike carried out on the 17th of November.

The Joint Council for Professions of Supplementary Medicine said the strike action is being organised based on seven demands including increasing the special duty allowance to Rs.10,000 and making the health service a closed service.
