“Emancipation” pulls out of Georgia shoot

(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) – Actor Will Smith and filmmaker Antoine Fuqua are moving the production of their upcoming Apple TV+ feature “Emancipation” out of the U.S. state of Georgia.

The story follows Peter, a fugitive from slavery that has to make the difficult journey north out of Louisiana. Shooting was expected to begin in June, no word on when it will now start.

The big-budget drama was originally going to begin filming this summer in Georgia, but the decision to move has reportedly been completely motivated by recent laws passed in the state making it more difficult for people to cast their votes in future elections.
