(UTV | COLOMBO) – An eight-year-old girl has succumbed to burn injuries following a fire that broke out at a residence in Wewegedarawatta, Weligama.
The fire broke out in a room and spread to the rest of the house.
Police said the child who was sleeping in the room died of burn injuries.
The victim’s grandmother and 13-year-old sister who were in another room escaped unscathed.
The Weligama Police and the Matara fire brigade unit doused the fire while the cause of the fire has not been uncovered yet.
