Keegan-Michael Key, Cecily Strong, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada have joined a currently untitled musical comedy series at Apple.
The series follows a couple (Key, Strong) on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover the magical town of Schmigadoon, in which everyone acts as if they’re in a studio musical from the 1940s. They then discover that they can’t leave until they find ‘true love’.
Armisen plays the town’s mild-mannered religious leader and Chenoweth his morally superior wife, while Cumming plays the town’s mayor. Strong produces and Lorne Michaels executive produces for Broadway Video and Universal Television.
