Adverse weather affects over 240,000, 14 dead

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) stated that 14 people died and two reported missing, while 245,212 people were affected in several districts of the country due to adverse weather conditions.

Over 831 houses had been fully or partially damaged, while 245,212 people belonging to 60,674 families in ten districts have been affected due to the adverse weather prevailing in several parts of the country, according to the DMC.

“People in the Gampaha, Ratnapura, Colombo, Puttalam, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Galle, Kurunegala and Kandy districts have been affected by the rains, floods, landslides and winds,” the DMC said.
