Premier addresses Indian Ocean Conference in Vietnam today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to address the inaugural session of the third Indian Ocean Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam today (27).

The conference themed “Building Regional Architectures” will be held on 27 and 28 August. Premier’s address is due at 4.30 PM (Sri Lanka time) today.

The conference in aimed at promoting strategic co-operation and trade ties between countries, consolidating security frameworks and administrative processes and contributing to maintaining regional peace stability, development and connectivity.

The two-day conference will draw 250 attendees from 43 countries and territories including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, India’s Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, and Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

The Sri Lankan delegation accompanying the Premier includes Minister Sagala Ratnayake and three other Officials.
