(UTV|COLOMBO) – Train commuters launched a protest opposite Colombo Fort Railway Station against sudden strike action by Railway Trade Unions on Wednesday (08) without any prior notice over a salary issue.
Several Railway Trade Unions including Drivers and Guards have launched a lightning strike at 3.00 PM bringing train services to a halt.
Meanwhile, severe traffic congestion is reported in Colombo Fort area, as the road opposite Fort Railway Station blocked due to a protest by commuters against the railway strike.
Tense situation is also reported at Fort Railway Station due to a massive gathering of commuters against the strike action.
