The Green Champion Award 2017 was presented to the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration by President Maithripala Sirisena at the Awards Ceremony held at premises of Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration Colombo yesterday (26).
This competition was organized by the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of power and Renewable Energy.
The motive behind this competition which was held island wide was to identify and conduct new ideas regarding using thrifty usages of power and renewable energy.
More than 80 domestic units, provincial organizations, universities, government offices, and medium and larger scale business organizations presented their proposals for the Green energy champion 2017 competition.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration was granted Rs.10 million and the technological assistance to conduct the project for the development proposal presented by them. A proposal that is targeted on solar energy, bio energy and a proposal for the thrifty use of power have been presented by the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.
Meanwhile presenting the award and the Rs.2.5 million worth technical equipments for the Diyagla Boy’s town team and presenting the award and the Rs.1.5 million worth equipments for the Urban Council of Batticaloa took place under the President’s patronage.
Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara, Secretary to the President Udaya.R.Seneviratne, German Ambassador John Rhodes and the Director General of Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration Wasantha Perera and other officials were present in this event.
