Sri Lanka is one of the key economic partners of Malaysia

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka is one of the key economic partners of Malaysia, the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) commemorated 61-years of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Sri Lanka in a message shared to its official Twitter page on Thursday (26).

The MITI made this remarks following a meeting held between Minister Darell Leiking and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen who was in Kuala Lumpur to accept the Global Leadership Award at Malaysia’s Global Leadership Awards 2018 (GLA 2018).

Sri Lanka was Malaysia’s 42nd largest trading partner while Malaysia was Sri Lanka’s 10th largest trading partner globally in 2017, the MITI said, adding that the Malaysia’s total trade with Sri Lanka increased 4.5% to RM 2.78 billion (USD 646.7 million).
