Sri Lanka thanks Ivory Coast for the support in the past

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka has thanked Ivory Coast for the support rendered to Sri Lanka in all international fora in the past.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Nigeria Thambirajah Raveenthiran concurrently accredited as Ambassador to Ivory Coast as well presented his Credentials to Alassane Ouattare the President of Ivory Coast at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace at Abidjan in Ivory Coast.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Nigeria said that the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the President and the people of Sri Lanka to the President and the people of Ivory Coast.

The President of Ivory Coast requested the Ambassador to convey his well wishes as well to his counterpart and the people of Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan envoy availed of this opportunity to apprise the President on all steady progress Sri Lanka is making towards economic prosperity. The Ambassador thanked the President for all the support rendered to Sri Lanka in all international fora in the past.

The President remarked he had heard a great deal about the great nation Sri Lanka and its remarkable achievement in social developments when he was attached to the IMF as an Economist from those officers who visited Sri Lanka as part of official mission.

The President while expressing satisfaction on overall state of bilateral relations between Ivory Coast and Sri Lanka the President stressed the need to further strengthen economic relations and people to people contacts.

This is the first time a Sri Lankan Ambassador presented Credentials in Ivory Coast a prosperous West African country.
