Appeal submitted to acquit and release Gnanasara Thero

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Lawyers of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero on Friday (15) submitted an appeal to the Homagama Magistrate’s Court to be forwarded to the High Court requesting the Judges to acquit and release Gnanasara Thero.

The Magistrate’s Court in Homagama handed down a one-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) sentence to be ended in six-months and a Rs. 50,000 to the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Organisation Gnanasara Thero on Thursday (14) for threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda in Court, when she appeared in 2016 to pursue justice for the enforced disappearance of her husband, the famed Sri Lankan Journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
