“Country needs a knowledge and discipline based human resource base” – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena said the country needs a knowledge and discipline-based human resource foundation. Speaking at the Prize Giving ceremony of Trinity College in Kandy on Friday (06), he said everybody should be extremely concerned over the safety and protection of children in the current harmful social conditions.

The government is fulfilling its responsibilities to the fullest in order to build a knowledge and discipline based human resource base, he said.

President Sirisena was received warmly by the students when he reached Trinity College premises this morning. He presented the prizes and special awards to the students with outstanding results and talents.

The Trinity College, established in 1857, is reputed as a school in which students from different communities and religions study in harmony and friendship with respect for each others’ views and beliefs. It has given the nation some outstanding leaders such as Minister Lakshman Kladirgamar, Lt Gen Denzil Kobbekaduwa, George Keat, Gamini Dissanayake and Kumar Sangakkara.

Those who were present at the ceremony included Chief Minister of Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake, Principal Andrew Watt, Staff members, parents and old boys.
