Navy arrests 5 Indian fishermen

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Five Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy for allegedly poaching in Sri Lanka’s territorial waters. The men were arrested last night (02nd Thursday). The navy also seized a trawler carrying the fishermen.

The fishing boat was intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy off Delft.

The suspects are due to be handed over to Fisheries Department officials in Jaffna.
