(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at the Parliament, today (22).
The President arrived at the Parliament during a condolence motion for the former General Secretary of United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and former Cabinet Minister Prof. Vishwa Warnapala.
Expressing his views President Sirisena said that Prof. Vishwa Warnapala fulfilled his duties not only as a politician, but also as an intellectual, irrespective of political differences.
He was an example to all politicians, the President said, adding that he was highly honoured by the people as a politician who was against fraud.
The President further said that it is questionable whether Prof warnapala received a proper place suitable for his vast knowledge and talents under the previous governments. ‘He is a great humanitarian who fulfilled his respective duties appropriately towards the people and the country, he said.
