500 Tea factories to be modernised

(UTV|COLOMBO) – To promote productivity of tea small holding sector in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Plantation has taken steps to start a special program to modernise 500 tea factories in the country.

To achieve this task, the Ministry is seeking financial assistance for this project and to famed banks in Japan JMIC and MUFG have shown their interest to provide USD 150 million on the concessionary rate.

Minister Navin Dissanayake held discussions with delegations of these banks on Thursday (30).
