(UTV|COLOMBO) – Bringing existing sound relations to new heights and holding the Sri Lanka Army in high regard, General Rajendra Chhetri, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Nepali Army, accompanied by his spouse and a delegation of seven military and civil members arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday (18) to a warm welcome, accorded at the the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport.
The COAS of the Nepali Army, General Rajendra Chhetri’s goodwill visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of his counterpart in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake takes place barely a few hours after Pakistan’s COAS left the island Wednesday (17) evening upon completion of a three-day long productive stay in Sri Lanka.
General Rajendra Chhetri, COAS of the Nepali Army and his delegation were warmly received at the airport by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Chief of Staff of the Army representing the Commander of the Army before the delegation was driven to Colombo .
During his stay in Sri Lanka, he is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on HE the President, Hon. Prime Minister, State Minister of Defence, Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Navy and Air Force Commanders and make a formal visit to a field headquarters with a view to getting a first-hand experience in Sri Lanka.
The delegation is comprised of the spouse of the COAS, Mrs Rita Chhetri, Mid Eastern Div Commander, Major General Ishwar Hamal, Deputy Military Assistant to the COAS, Colonel Anup Jung Thapa, Lieutenant Colonel Rajaram Badnet, Staff Officer, Lieutenant Sreya Rayamajhi, Aide-de-Camp, Warrant Officer II, Brinda Thapa and a few other civil members.
Chief of the General Staff of Nepali Army, Officers Commanding of Nepali Army, HE Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, several Military Attachés in Nepal saw the Nepali Army Chief’s departure from Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on Wednesday (17).
