(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando says the international community has a high admiration over the good governance government.
Speaking at a media briefing over the recently concluded 2017 World Economic Forum, the Minister said a preliminary agreement was made to hold an economic forum in Sri Lanka next year.
Minister Harin Fernando said he received the opportunity to attend a meeting held by the Chairman of the World Economic Forum adding that during the course of the meeting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made a proposal to hold the World Economic Forum in Sri Lanka in parallel to the 70th Anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence.
Minister Fernando said the Chairman conveyed his support in this regard, claiming that a team will be sent to Sri Lanka to hold discussions pertaining to the matter. Accordingly, Minister Harin Fernando said Sri Lanka will be able to host business and economic leaders from across the world in 2018.
Minister Harin Fernando also said the protest launched by the Joint Opposition over the Southern Development Zone and the Hambantota Port discredited the country. Minister Fernando said a presentation was given on the development of Sri Lanka by officials at the World Economic Forum.
