2% Tax on abandoned lands if Dengue breeding sites found

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A tax sum worth 2% of the value of the land will be imposed on abandoned lands in the Western Province if Dengue breeding sites are found on the property, the Chief Minister of the Western Province Isura Devapriya said.

The Chief Minister stated that the taxing process will be in effect from Monday (10) onwards, according to the Local Government Ordinance.

The tax is being imposed as part of measures to curb the spread of Dengue.
