(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Special train services will be in operation during the Poson season for the benefit of the pilgrims travelling to Anuradhapura, the Railway Department said.
Accordingly, 28 trains will be running from June 06 to 10. On June 08 and 09 special trains will ply between Anuradhapura – Medawachchiya, and Anuradhapura – Mahawa. In addition, on June 08 and 09 there will be trains plying between Anuradhapura – Mihinthalaya 72 times. The daily trains too will have additional compartments.
On June 06, a special train will leave Colombo Fort at 12.00 noon, on June 07 at 3.30 AM, 8.20 AM, 10.40 AM, 12.45 PM, 6.00 PM, and 11.15 PM for Anuradhapura. A special train will be running from Awissawella to Anuradhapura.
On June 08, two special trains will be running from Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura at 3.30 AM and 6.10 PM. Another train will leave from Mahawa at 10.40 AM on the same day.
On June 09, a train will leave from Maradana to Anuradhapura at 4.00 AM. Additional trains will also be running to Anuradhapura from Mahawa on June 09 and 10.
