Sri Lanka shows interest in Belarusian military hardware

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka is showing interest in purchasing the Belarusian military hardware at the MILEX 2017 defense exhibition in Minsk, according to the Belarusian News Agency BelTA.

Sri Lanka Army Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Wanni attending the MILEX 2017 Belarusian defence exhibition in Minsk has shown interest, especially in armoured vehicles, BelTA said.

The Major-General thanked for the invitation and praised the Belarusian Armed Forces during the show of the MILEX 2017 exhibition opening ceremony. Commander Kulatunga stressed that Sri Lanka is extremely interested in cooperation.

“We are mainly interested in overhauling our armoured vehicles, modernizing armament systems. We also consider buying new specimen of equipment and technology,” Major General Kulatunga said. According to the Major General the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka have already been using the Belarusian military equipment.
