No cost increase with the new tariff scheme

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Domestic customers of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company have been given the option to change their times of use (Time of the day tariff).

The CEB proposed it and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has given the approval to start the project.

From 10.30 p.m. – 5.30 a.m. – Unit Cost (Rs.) 13
Morning 5.30 a.m. – Evening 6.30 – Unit Cost (Rs.) 25
Evening 6.30 p.m. – Night 10.30 – Unit Cost (Rs.) 54

We don’t intend to increase the Electricity tariff and this will be introduced single phase domestic users. The highest demand for electricity is between 6.30pm to 10.30 pm and we want to minimize the usage during this time. It is not a must to change into this system and it can be decided by the user.
