(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Joint Opposition’s black flag campaign against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took an unexpected turn with MP Wimal Weerawansa, the chief architect of the campaign, failing to hoist a black flag at his own house.
The photographs taken on Friday showed that no black flag was visible in the vicinity of Weerawansa’s house.
Modi arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday evening and attended several events, including the International Vesak Day celebration, on Friday.
Weerawansa urged the public to hoist black flags against Modi, addressing the Joint Opposition’s May Day rally at Galle Face Green, two weeks ago.
The UPFA MP said Modi’s visit was aimed at acquiring Sri Lanka’s national resources, including the oil tanks in Trincomalee.
