(UTV | COLOMBO) – Venerable Walavahangunaweve Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera says that no political party in the country works for the best interest of the general public.
In a strongly worded speech, Mihintale Raja Maha Viharadhipathi Venerable Walavahangunaweve Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera has declared that no political party in the country works for the best interest of the general public and therefore people should either spoil their ballots or refrain from voting for any party at upcoming elections.
Speaking during an event at the Mihintale sacred site yesterday, Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera said all parties have contributed to the downfall of the country and therefore they have no faith in the governments that ruled Sri Lanka.
The Thera noted that all 225 Members of Parliament have got together and gazette Sri Lanka as a “poor country”.
Walavahangunaweve Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera said Sri Lanka was known to be a developing country but is gearing to commemorate the 75th Independence Day celebrations as a “poor country”.
Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera stressed that politicians are not keen on serving the people and therefore regardless of the declaration of an election, be it a Local Authorities, Provincial Council or Parliamentary election, the public should not attend rallies of parties or vote for them.
The Nayaka Thera said the clergy should also not support any politician. Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera said people should think of the people of Sri Lanka and therefore should spoil the ballots at upcoming elections.
